Here at TheKidsDo we believe it’s never too early to plan ahead, and with Christmas just around the corner we’re already starting to feel fantastically festive. We want to share the early excitement of the season by sharing the top local events happening across Kingston, Richmond and the surrounding areas.

Kingston Christmas Market
The magical Christmas market is back, transforming the streets of Kingston into a glittering winter wonderland. Wander through the traditional wooden cabins and discover the wonderful handmade gifts. Once you’ve built up an appetite, visit the Alpine Village in Ancient Market Place for classic street-food, live entertainment and mulled wine. For children there’s the Candy Cane Forest to explore, a dedicated children’s entertainment area, complete with fairground rides plus a few hidden surprises. For opening times and more details visit:

Kingston Christmas Free Walking Tour
Meet at the gates of All Saints Church (Market Place side) for a free immersive historical walk led by the Kingston Tour Guides. You’ll learn about Kingston’s rich heritage as the guides share their stories and insights. From Saxon Kings to Victorian Kingston. The whole family will enjoy this fascinating local step back in time.

Amazing Alice in Winterland at the Rose Theatre
Featuring professional actors alongside members of the Rose Youth Theatre, The Rose Theatre, Kingston proudly presents Alice in Winterland. A new stage production based on the Lewis Carroll’s classics Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Look out for various free Alice in Winterland themed children’s events throughout November and December including themed crafting and colouring in sessions and interactive storytelling.

Rose Christmas Celebration
Guaranteed to make you feel Christmassy! Join in with the Rose Theatre’s Christmas Celebration, featuring performances by Tiffin Children’s Chorus, Singing it back choirs, Voice Festival UK Champions (2014), The Tiffinians Movement Warriors Boys Dance Troupe and the Tiffin Boys’ Choir.

Let it Go with Singalong Frozen!
Embrace your inner Elsa as you experience Frozen on the big screen in the main auditorium of Rose Theatre in Kingston. Fun for all of the family, kids will love meeting Queen Elsa and Princess Anna before the show and following the music with this special singalong version of a Disney Winter Classic.

Friday 1st December
Shine and Shimmer at Kew Sparkle
Come along to Kew Garden Station where there will be Christmas lights, stalls, mulled wine and even carol singers for Kew Sparkle. There will also be carousels and rides for the kids, as well as fantastic local food and drink stalls. All profits go to charity.
Sunday 3rd December
See Santa (lots of them!) Run - Santa Fun Run in Richmond Park
Ready, Get Set, Santa Run. This much-loved family friendly event takes place in Richmond (and Bushy) Park. Suitable for all ages and abilities, it’s a great way to spend time with the family as well as raise funds for Princess Alice Hospice.

Have all of your wishes granted with Aladdin at Richmond Theatre...
Starring pantomime-legend Christopher Biggins, Aladdin is a high-flying adventure the whole family will love. Packed full of spectacular family entertainment, this production features all the ingredients of the perfect Panto; a wonderful cast and orchestra, comedy, stunning scenery and special effects and of course magnificent costumes.

Kids aged between 6-12 years will have great fun with the Creative Learning team at Richmond Theatre with this pantomime workshop. Learn the history of panto, play fun drama games and make up your very own pantomime scenes.

Saturday 2nd December
Twickenham is twinkling at the Festival of Light Christmas Fair
Celebrate the start of Christmas with this family fair. From craft stalls from local artists to Church Street traders it’s never too soon to start your Christmas shopping. Christmas entertainment will include live music from local bands, carol singing, face painting, Santa’s grotto and Punch and Judy. Church Street will be pedestrianised for the event and it is free to attend.

Eat and be merry at the East Sheen Christmas Market
Plenty of fun to be had at the East Sheen Christmas Market event. Fantastic gifts, toys, craft will be on offer. There will also be plenty of delicious food and drink to sample, carol singing and a great community atmosphere.
Sunday 10th December
Meet Rudolph and his friends at St Margarets Crown Road Community Christmas Fair
Celebrate Christmas with your local community with this wonderful fair. With plenty of entertainment for children including Santa’s Grotto and reindeer. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the selection of festive food and drink on offer, as well as live music and the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping.

Festive Frozen Fun at Hampton Court Ice Rink
Get your skates on and enjoy seasonal skating in a stunning setting at Hampton Court Palace. This year promises a bigger rink, plus early morning weekend sessions. So why not welcome in the winter with this fun activity for all of the family.

Countdown to Christmas at the Hampton Village Christmas Lights Switch On
Free entry to this festive family event in Hampton Village. Get inspired with plenty of ideas for Christmas. Buy and support local with stalls from local traders and makers.

Father Christmas is moving into Ham House!
Pop along and visit Father Christmas himself at his special Grotto in Ham House this Christmas. Throughout the Christmas school holidays take the kids for a fun-filled family day out. Other festive activities include a Children’s Trail throughout the house and gardens. Tackle the trail and hunt out clues towards a goody bag reward. For those feeling creative there’s also the opportunity to decorate gingerbread biscuits in the Dairy or make your own reindeer antlers in the education room. Lots of fun for all.
